This September, Irish rugby legend Rory Best will take on an extraordinary final challenge in aid of Cancer Fund for Children, with BMW Ireland proud to support the journey.

From 12–20 September, Rory will lead a team of business leaders on a 235+ mile journey across Ireland, walking the equivalent of nine marathons in nine days. Along the way, the team will travel through Derry/Londonderry, Belfast, Dublin, Kildare, Carlow, Cork, Limerick and Galway before reaching the finish line in Cong, Co. Mayo. BMW Ireland will be supporting the challenge by providing three support vehicles: iX3, iX1 and MINI Countryman.

CHEER POINTS!

A number of cheer points have been set up along the route, giving people the chance to come out and support Rory and his team as they take on this mammoth challenge.

Rory will be passing BMW Ireland on Monday 14 September at 1:30pm, so if you're nearby, come along and help us give him and the team a big Joe Duffy BMW welcome!

For Joe Duffy BMW, supporting the challenge is about more than simply getting behind an event. We're also taking part in our own steps challenge, getting our team moving while raising funds for this incredible cause.

Cancer Fund for Children is a BMW Ireland partnered charity, and we're proud to play our part in supporting the vital work they do with children and families affected by cancer.

And we've been getting behind the charity for a while. In 2024, six members of our team took to the skies in a charity skydive, raising much-needed funds for Daisy Lodge.

This year's challenge marks the third and final chapter of Rory's Miles to Mayo fundraising journey, which has already raised millions for Cancer Fund for Children and helped build momentum behind the charity's work supporting children, young people and families impacted by cancer.

The need is significant. Around 10 children and young people across the island of Ireland are diagnosed with cancer every week, affecting not only the child but their whole family. Cancer Fund for Children provides emotional, social and therapeutic support to families through Cancer Support Specialists, hospital support and therapeutic breaks at Daisy Lodge.

The final destination for this year's challenge is particularly significant. A second Daisy Lodge is currently being built on the shores of Lough Corrib in Cong, with the new centre expected to open in spring 2027, allowing Cancer Fund for Children to support even more families.
