IT Application Support Manager


Role Summary:


We are seeking a highly skilled IT Application Support Manager to join our team to manage and maintain our company’s applications portfolio.


The IT Application Support Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all application systems are running efficiently and effectively, while also driving process improvements, system enhancements, and implementing new software solutions as needed.


This position also works closely with project sponsors, business users, technical resources [internal and third-party vendors], senior management and executives in the delivery and support of applications that ensure that the needs of business users are fully addressed, and continuous improvement is being achieved.


The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and experience managing software implementations.


Key Contribution Areas:


  • Manage all aspects of the company’s application portfolio, including software selection, installation, customization, integration, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement application support policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure that applications are functioning properly, and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and develop new software solutions to meet those requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of new software solutions, including project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Ensure that all applications are available and performing at optimal levels, and that any issues are identified and resolved quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure that all applications are properly integrated with other IT systems, and that data is properly flowing between applications.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor and report on application support metrics, including response times, resolution times, and customer satisfaction levels, to identify areas for improvement and optimize support services.
  • Develop and manage IT application budgets, including forecasting and reporting on expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with all IT policies, procedures, and security standards.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams and vendor partners.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
  • Strong technical skills in application support, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and monitoring.


Functional or Technical Knowledge and Skill Required:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 5+ years worth of experience in application support, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience working with cloud-based applications and environments is a plus.
  • Insurance or Financial Services experience an advantage.
  • Proven track record in application support and project delivery.
