Adventure Reborn as All-New BMW F 450 GS Hits Irish Showrooms

DUBLIN — Irish motorcycle enthusiasts and new riders alike are flocking to Joe Duffy Motorrad as BMW Motorrad Ireland officially launches the highly anticipated BMW F 450 GS. Intended to plug the massive gap between the lightweight G 310 GS and the heavyweight F 900 GS, this new contender brings authentic GS capability to a significantly more manageable, lightweight package.

Demonstration models are now active across Irish dealer networks, offering riders their first chance to test the bike on tarmac and trails.

Heavy Hit in a Light Package
The standout headline of the F 450 GS is its power-to-weight ratio, built precisely to skirt the exact regulatory legal limits of the European A2 motorcycle license. Weighing in at just 178 kg ready to ride, the bike features a completely redeveloped 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing exactly 48 horsepower (35 kW).
Engineers have equipped the powerplant with a unique 135-degree crankpin offset. This design minimises harsh vibrations while producing a throaty, aggressive exhaust note that mimics the brand's larger boxer twins.

Segment-First Technology

True to the premium tier expected of the German brand, the F 450 GS does not skimp on standard electronics. The base machine arrives with:

  • Lean-angle sensitive ABS Pro and dynamic traction control
  • Three distinct core riding modes: Rain, Road, and Enduro
  • BMW's full-sized 6.5-inch TFT color display with integrated smartphone Bluetooth connectivity

The highest-tier variants introduce BMW's innovative Easy Ride Clutch (ERC). This centrifugal clutch system completely removes the risk of stalling and eliminates the need to manually hold the clutch lever during stop-start urban traffic or slow-speed off-road maneuvering.

Trims, Capabilities, and Irish Appeal

BMW is offering the machine in four separate flavors tailored to different riding styles: Base, Exclusive, Sport, and GS Trophy. The off-road-focused GS Trophy model stands out in classic Racing Blue Metallic with red and white accents, adding a higher rally windscreen, robust aluminum engine protection guards, and specialized sport suspension with 180mm of travel.
With an approachable standard seat height of 845mm, the F 450 GS is custom-built for the rugged, unpredictable backroads and green lanes of Ireland. While it sits at a price premium compared to entry-level single-cylinder rivals, early industry reviews highlight its class-leading specification list, finish quality, and pure accessibility as a true do-it-all vehicle.
