CBS SERVICING ICONS - WHAT DO THEY MEAN?
What are Service Icons?
Depending on the age of your MINI, your vehicle will be fitted with either the Condition Based Servicing (CBS) or Service Interval Indicator (SII) system; both of which will alert you through dashboard symbols, when your MINI needs attention.
CONDITION BASED SERVICING (CBS).
Newer MINI models feature Condition Based Servicing (CBS). This system actively monitors various service components for wear, ensuring that your MINI only requests attention when it needs it.
When your MINI does require servicing a CBS icon will display on your dashboard. In addition to this, the vehicle data is stored in your key and read using the MINI KeyReader, allowing the MINI Service team to quickly identify your needs.
SERVICE INTERVAL INDICATOR (SII).
MINI models built before the introduction of CBS utilise the Service Interval Indicator (SII). This system monitors the mileage of the vehicle and the time since its last service. A variety of dashboard icons will be displayed when it requires a formal Service or Inspection.
HOW TO CHECK WHAT SERVICE YOUR VEHICLE NEEDS WITH CBS.
The oil and oil filter in your MINI's engine should be replaced to ensure optimum performance and help maintain efficiency. The microfilter(s) should also be replaced.
The front brake pads on your MINI are close to their wear limit and need replacing. Your brake discs should also be checked.
The rear brake pads on your MINI are close to their wear limit and need replacing. Your brake discs should also be checked.
The brake fluid in your MINI should be replaced to maintain optimum performance.
Your MINI is due the annual statutory inspection for vehicles 3 years and older.
Your MINI is due a Vehicle Check Service. This thorough inspection covers a wide variety of elements to help ensure your MINI remains safe, roadworthy and continues to look and perform at its optimum. This symbol may also appear for other vehicle defects that require attention.
