SUV's Set To Dominate The Irish Market

SUV's are breaking all records and for the first time are outselling traditional cars in many European countries.

Our fascination with the crossover model has prompted a major lift in buying with sales up in Ireland more than 35% last year. The SUV crossover segment is now the biggest-selling format on the market, according to the latest figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

And virtually every carmaker is either updating SUV lineups or adding to them as all forecasts point to exponential growth. Small mainstream automakers to traditional luxury saloon manufacturers are all getting on the SUV boom.

BMW was overtaken by its rival, Mercedes-Benz, for the first time in more than a decade, with the former selling 80,000 fewer cars than the Daimler brand. The luxury car brands battle it out for the younger buyers with sportier design and ever popular SUV's.

With estimates claiming nearly half of all cars sold in 2021 will be SUV's, BMW are fighting back, and are well placed to take advantage of this trend.

The BMW X3 is getting ready to be delivered to customers worldwide, with the hotly anticipated arrival of the SUV due to Irish shores in November 2017. The success of the X3 builds on previous generations of SUV design bringing new technology to complement the car’s sleek exterior.

A sneak peak unveiled some surprising features with the front end look varying quite a lot depending on the equipment line chosen. There are three model lines to choose from: xLine, Luxury Line and M Sport - with a further choice from the BMW individual range of products to tailor the interior and exterior to your liking. The history of the X3 stretches back to 2003 and is one of the manufacturers most successful models.

The bigger and bolder BMW X2 will make its market debut in Spring 2018 and will be available in five configurations: BMW X2, xDrive18i, xDrive20i, xDrive20d and xDrive25d. Early signs point to the X2 being the brands most chic car to date, with a departure from the typical X model design. A fresh design on the distinctive kidney grille and round fog lamps mounted high on it's front bumper hint at a bold new look. While the rear offers a sleeker, more aggressive style with horizontal taillights.

All these changes, with a bold new range of colours to choose from, suggest BMW are going to dominate the SUV market.
