The Ford Mondeo features powerful and efficient engines, and a range of intelligent technologies. The result: exhilarating performance and precise handling. Choose from a Hybrid powertrain, advanced petrol or diesel, all of which deliver the power you want, and the efficiency you need. In fact, the combination of smart design and advanced engineering means excellent economy and low CO2 emissions, whichever powertrain you choose.
The Mondeo Hybrid has two sources of power: a conventional fuel engine and a battery-driven, electric motor. The system automatically switches between the powertrains, or uses a combination of both, to deliver a perfect blend of power and efficiency. And to make the whole system even more efficient, regenerative braking captures up to 90% of the energy normally lost through friction brakes, then recycles it to recharge the high-voltage battery.
The Mondeo is packed with advanced technologies designed to make your life easier. Some systems, such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go and Lane Keeping System, continuously monitor and respond to changes in road conditions, traffic and your driving. The Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Alert then warns you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning. If you're slow to react or don’t respond, Lane Keeping Aid can provide steering torque assistance to help guide you back into the right lane. The technology is designed for multi-lane roads (like motorways), so will automatically deactivate at speeds below 43 mph or can be turned off manually.Other useful features, including Hill Start Assist and Active Park Assist help deliver a stress-free, more refined driving experience.
Multi-contour, heated seats are available for the driver and front passenger. Electrically adjustable seats provide added support where you need it and even offer you a massage, helping you stay fresh on long journeys.
The Ford Mondeo is available with a range of powerful and fuel-efficient engines, complemented by 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmissions. Choose from a Hybrid engine, advanced petrol or diesel, all of which deliver the power you want, and the efficiency you need.
An advanced, multi-functional centre console enables you to control many of the vehicle’s systems from one place. All the functions are clearly displayed on screen and you can access them via steering wheel mounted controls too.
The Ford Mondeo is packed with advanced safety systems designed to help keep you, your passengers and other road users safe. Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection helps to proactively avoid incidents. And Emergency Brake Assist helps maximise the effectiveness of your brakes if you need to apply them suddenly.
The Ford SmartGauge with EcoGuide uses intelligent design and an intuitive interface to help you drive more efficiently. A high-resolution LCD screen on the dashboard displays real time driving information, including fuel and battery power levels. And an on-screen animation shows you when you’re driving most efficiently to help you maximise your savings.
Intelligent design, smart technology and precision engineering maximise the benefits of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). Hybrid technology knows when it’s best to switch from petrol to electric power. The result is smooth, responsive performance, an exhilarating driving experience and combined fuel consumption of only 4.2 l / 100 km.
Smart engineering in the Mondeo Hybrid means there’s no need to charge your car at the mains. Regenerative braking recaptures energy usually wasted when you apply the brakes, then uses it to charge the battery. Secondly, the petrol engine powers a generator that sends energy back to battery. This enables your Mondeo to switch to electric power when you need to maximise efficiency.
Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go technology lets you choose the speed you want the system to maintain. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance, and can even bring the vehicle to a complete stop in heavy traffic. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate back up to your chosen speed.
Energy efficient and with a striking new design, the new LED daytime running lights help get you noticed during the day.
Active Park Assist can steer you into both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces. It can manoeuvre into parallel spaces just 20% longer than your vehicle. Simply push a button and the sensors of this innovative system locate a suitable space as you drive past. Then it automatically steers you in, while all you do is operate the accelerator, gears and brake (following on-screen instructions and audible signals). And Park-Out Assist is designed to help you get out of a parallel parking space in the same way.
The Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert uses RADAR sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in your blind spot. They’re situated on either side of your Mondeo and alert you with an orange light, clearly displayed in the side door mirror. And when reversing from a parking bay, Cross Traffic Alert assists you by detecting oncoming traffic (vehicles & bicycles) from either side of the vehicle. If sensors detect that the vehicle is reversing into the trajectory of oncoming traffic, it will alert the driver with an audible and visual warning.
Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. Icons for speed limits and no-overtaking signs are displayed on the instrument cluster, alerting you to changing restrictions.
Electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) automatically adjusts to your speed and the conditions. At low speeds, the system makes wheel turns feel lighter and easier, improving maneuverability. At high speeds, when you need greater control, it firms up the steering. Now with drift control, EPAS also takes into account crosswinds and other driving conditions, while active nibble control reduces any unwanted vibration in the steering wheel.
Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2-3 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator.
Bollards, bicycles, low walls… The rear-view camera shows whatever’s behind you on a screen built into the centre console. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines to help you park into the smallest of spaces. The camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.
Due to their larger batteries, most Hybrid vehicles sacrifice storage space to deliver improved efficiency. But thanks to smart engineering and intelligent design, the Mondeo estate is different: it has all the space you need. In fact, there’s up to 1,508 litres of space in the boot alone. And the flat floor ensures effortless loading and unloading of your luggage, to help deliver a Hybrid car that’s as versatile as it is efficient.
This smart system helps to make loading and unloading your Mondeo as effortless as possible. The tailgate will automatically open or close, at a press of a button. This feature even allows you to set the desired tailgate opening height.
At the press of a button, the electronically operated roof blind glides away, allowing natural light to stream in through the panorama roof.
In addition to two 12V power sockets, you can also select an optional 230V socket: ideal for charging your devices on the move, without the need for special adaptors.
When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine (while still supplying power to essentials like the headlights, air-conditioning, radio and the Ford SYNC system). When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic, and the system restarts. Auto Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle)
