All-New Ford Kuga

All-New Ford Kuga

Beautifully designed, remarkably efficient, more than capable. Available with Ford’s latest Plug-in Hybrid electric technology, for a cleaner, quieter, more sophisticated approach to SUV driving. With a host of clever assistance technologies, and design features to compliment an active lifestyle, Ford Kuga is equally at home exploring rolling landscapes or seeking adventure from your city commute.

New Kuga - Model Highlights

The All-New Ford Kuga has arrived at Joe Duffy. In this video, Sam takes us through the main features. This plug in Hybrid version has a fully electric range of up to 56 km. For longer journeys you can still use it's traditional combustion engine.

As part of Ford’s commitment to offer 14 electrified vehicles by 2020, the Kuga is available with three hybrid options: A Plug-in Hybrid, EcoBlue Hybrid, and from late 2020, a Full Hybrid will complete the trio. Ford’s advanced hybrid technology is designed to deliver a cleaner, quieter, more sophisticated approach to SUV driving. The Kuga Plug-in Hybrid is available to test drive at Joe Duffy Ford today.

A seamless blend of petrol and electric power

Ford Kuga’s advanced Plug-in Hybrid technology combines a battery powered electric motor with its 2.5-litre Duratec petrol engine – delivering a combined power output of 225 PS, together with outstanding fuel economy. For added peace of mind, the hybrid battery comes with an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty (whichever comes first).

A choice of electric vehicle (EV) modes means you can decide whether to run on power from the electric motor, petrol engine or via a combination of both. When using the mode ‘EV Now’ the Vehicle can travel up to 56km on electric power only. So, you can make easy work of any terrain, while keeping your city driving clean, quiet and refined.

Effortless charging

The New Kuga Plug-in Hybrid comes with two standard charging cables: one for regular home charging, and another for public charging stations.

Want to make charging your Plug-in Hybrid at home as fast as possible? With the help of one of our expert installation partners, you can install a Ford Wall-Box at home as an optional accessory. Capable of charging your Kuga from 0-100% in under 3.5 hours, the Ford Wall-Box offers much faster charging times than a conventional plug socket.

When you’re driving, a combination of regenerative braking and power drawn from the engine helps replenish the battery. And if you need to recharge on-the-go, you can easily use an ever-growing network of public charging stations too.

The best of both worlds

Wherever the destination, the All-New Kuga Plug-in Hybrid uses two sources of power to get you there more efficiently. An advanced electric powertrain lets you make shorter trips of up to 56 km on zero emissions, and can recharge anywhere you have access to mains power. For longer journeys, the conventional combustion engine ensures you can go as far as you need to, using powersplit technology to help recharge the Hybrid battery as you drive. While energy captured through regeberative braking also helps to extend your electric range even further.

Your personal driving assistant

Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go lets you set both your cruising speed, and distance from the vehicle in front. If it detects that traffic is slowing, the system will maintain that pre-set distance if conditions do not allow for your preferred cruising speed. It can even bring you to a complete stop in heavy traffic. Once the road in front is clear, the system automatically accelerates back up to your chosen speed – making it ideal for negotiating the crowded stop-start driving of urban environments. Add with Kuga’s Lane Keeping System helping to prevent unintentional lane departures and keep you smoothly centered on motorways, those long journeys become even more enjoyable.

No more rummaging for your keys

Hands-free tailgate makes access to your Kuga load compartment is easy, even when your hands are full. With your KeyFree key fob in your pocket or bag, simply use a gentle foot movement under the centre of the rear bumper and the hands-free tailgate will operate without you having to touch a thing. It can also be opened and closed while sitting inside the car.

Unlock a world of connectivity

The All-New Ford Kuga is now available with the FordPass Connect modem to take your Ford Kuga experience to the next level. With a host of useful features, including onboard Wi-Fi, enhanced in-car navigation, and real-time traffic updates. Locate your vehicle, lock and unlock the doors, or if you have a vehicle with an automatic transmission, even start the engine remotely. And in the event of an accident, FordPass Connect can automatically send an eCall (emergency call) to the emergency services and let them know where your vehicle is.

If you own a Kuga Plug-In Hybrid, the FordPass app delivers even more features exclusive to PHEV. View your current battery level and driving range; monitor your driving and power usage patterns; locate public charging stations and set preferred home charging times. You can even pre-set your cabin temperature ready for a departure.

A system that can help protect pedestrians

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses camera technology to scan the road ahead. If a collision risk with a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist is detected, it’ll then provide you with a warning. If you don’t respond in time, the system can automatically apply up to full braking force to help reduce the severity of, or even eliminate, some frontal collisions.

Use less fuel with Auto-Start-Stop

When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine, while still supplying power to the essentials. When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic vehicle, and the system seamlessly restarts. Auto-Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).

Flexible seating adapts to your needs

The dynamic Ford Kuga interior design gives you the ultimate freedom to adapt to every journey. Clever use of space gives you a generous 612-litres of boot space. Need more storage for a big trip, or prefer the luxury of extra leg-room in the back? The flexible rear seating slides forward or backward to suit your needs, increasing the rear storage capacity by 67-Litres when forward – so you’ll have no trouble packing anything you need.

Extra support for your engine

The All-New Kuga’s Ford EcoBlue Hybrid diesel option incorporates a small electric motor with a 48-volt battery to help improve engine efficiency.

This is a Mild-Hybrid Electric powertrain, which cannot be driven solely on electric power. Instead the electric motor provides additional support to the combustion engine when needed, helping both to increase your vehicle mileage, and reduce emission figures.

There is no need to connect the vehicle to an external power source, as the separate 48-volt battery pack which powers the electric motor is recharged while you drive. Regenerative braking works by redirecting energy from the brakes and back into the mild hybrid battery.

The smarter diesel option

Prefer diesel? Ford Kuga offers a choice of 1.5 and 2.0 litre EcoBlue engines, incorporating the latest diesel technology to improve power, torque and economy, whilst reducing emissions. Delivering an impressive 120 PS or 190 PS of power respectively, whichever diesel engine you choose, you'll also have the option of a manual or advanced automatic transmission.

Seamless gear selection

For models with automatic transmission, Kuga’s Rotary Gear Shift Dial gives you complete control of the advanced 8-speed gearbox – allowing you to seamlessly select gears with the simple twist of the dial. While replacing the conventional gear leaver frees up additional space for a cleaner, more refined interior design.

Useful stowage throughout

The clean, uncluttered design of Kuga’s interior creates plenty of useful stowage space throughout the cabin. The large media bin in the centre console has enough room for even the biggest smartphones. There are large cup-holders for the driver and passenger, and even the doors are designed to maximise space.

Tame every terrain

Smooth city streets, or rocky off-road terrain: wherever you’re driving, Kuga is built to maximise control. Choose from five available drive modes, which fine-tune vehicle performance to perfectly suit the conditions. The system alters acceleration, steering and suspension sensitivity, while also working with traction, stability, and Hill Decent Control systems, to provide optimum control in any setting.

Select between: Normal, Sport, Wet/Slippery, Trail, or for maximum efficiency, the Eco mode. Key information is displayed via Kuga’s 12.3” digital instrument cluster, which changes between unique colour themes according to which drive mode you have selected.

Helping you stay in your lane

The Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Aid provides gentle steering torque assistance to help guide you back into your lane. If your wheel touches the line or edge of the road, Lane Keeping Alert vibrates the steering wheel and displays a visual warning. The technology automatically deactivates at speeds below 64 km/h, or can be turned off manually.

Let Kuga do the parking

Parking in a busy street or a tight space can be tricky. But with Enhanced Active Park Assist, the New Ford Kuga makes it easier than ever. Available on models with automatic transmission, the system can identify a suitable parking space, and then automatically perform the entire parking and exit manoeuvres for you. Activated by holding the Active Park Assist button, there’s no need for you to steer or use the pedals – the car takes care of it all for you.

Spots the road signs you might miss

Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. Icons for speed limits and no-overtaking signs are displayed on the instrument cluster, alerting you to changing restrictions.

Helping you to see around bends

Kuga’s adaptive front lighting system provides outstanding illumination in a variety of conditions. These eye-catching LED headlights use camera technology to monitor the road ahead and alter the light patterns accordingly.

Predictive curve light uses lane-markers to detect and illuminate bends in the road before you enter them. Sign-based light recognises if you approach a roundabout or stop sign and adapts the headlight beam to match the road layout. Glare-free high beam adjusts the headlight angle for maximum illumination. While the front camera helps the system to protect other drivers from glare.

Premium technologies to make your drive easier.

Important information at a glance

The head up display projects key information into your field of vision, so you can keep your eyes on the road ahead. Compatible with polarised sunglasses, the clear, bright image can display your preferred choice of content – including vehicle speed, navigation, cruise control notifications and Traffic Sign Recognition data.

Sensors that take the stress out of parking

Parking distance sensors help you judge the distance between your vehicle and obstacles around you. When the sensors detect an object, they activate an audible warning that intensifies the closer you get to it.

Your world opens

Enjoy more of the great outdoors from the comfort of your Ford Kuga. An electrically-operated, dual panel panorama roof truly lets you feel immersed in the surrounding scenery. The roof sits above the first and second rows of seats, flooding the interior with natural light and creating an abundance of fresh air when opened. The sliding glass also has a solar reflective coating to help keep the interior cool when closed, while an internal sunblind provides extra shade when you need it.

An extra layer of comfort

Heated seats are available for the driver and front passenger. And for extra levels of comfort, the Kuga’s heated steering wheel keeps your hands warm on those frosty winter mornings.

Music as it’s meant to be heard

Whatever your taste in music, it deserves to sound as the artist intended. A tailor-made sound system from B&O means that’s exactly what you can expect from your new Kuga. The advanced 10-speaker, 575-watt setup has been specifically developed and fine-tuned for the Kuga by specialist B&O sound engineers. So, turn it up and enjoy your favourite bands and songs in your personal concert hall.

Maximises braking in an emergency

Emergency Brake Assist is designed to recognise an emergency braking situation and optimise the pressure within the braking system to provide maximum stopping power.

An early warning if a tyre is going flat

If it detects any of your tyres starting to lose pressure during your journey, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System warns you by lighting up an icon on the instrument panel.

Protecting and securing your Kuga from thieves

A Thatcham Category 1 alarm is a sophisticated system that automatically arms itself when you double-lock your Kuga. It will sound a powerful alarm if triggered by forced entry, the car being lifted, or if the motion sensors pick up any movement inside. The technology is also designed to help prevent unwanted towing of your Kuga. It's possible to arm the system in different ways, which means you can choose to monitor the doors, bonnet and boot.

Flexible, adaptive rear seating

The New Ford Kuga’s dynamic interior design gives you the ultimate freedom to adapt to every journey. Need more boot-space for a big trip or prefer the luxury of extra leg-room in the back? The flexible rear seating slides forward or backward to suit your needs, increasing the rear storage capacity by 67-Litres when forward – so you’ll have no trouble packing anything you need.

Roof rails

Stylish satin aluminium or black-finish roof rails enhance the commanding SUV character of your All-New Ford Kuga; while forming the base attachment required for a number of roof transportation accessories.

Spacious and practical

Make easy work of shopping trips and school runs. Or why not throw a couple of bikes in the back and head out to explore? Kuga’s flexible rear seating and up to 1534 litres of storage capacity ensures you’ll always have all the space you’ll need.

Serious pulling power

From small trailer to sailboat or large caravan: with its impressive towing capacity of up to 2,100 kg, the All-New Ford Kuga is more than capable of handling your weekend away.

The optional, electrically-operated retractable tow bar can be manually stowed out of sight when not needed. Release it at the touch of a button, then retract it with a swift and easy action. An optional fully detachable tow bar is also available.

5-star safety

It’s not just us who are saying it. It’s no surprise to us that as proof of its outstanding ability to protect you and your passengers, the New Kuga has earned a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, the leading independent safety organisation in Europe. Their role is to thoroughly evaluate the safety of all new vehicles, holding them to the highest levels of scrutiny.
