So when you’re cruising comfortably on smooth roads, you can keep the vehicle in 2WD. But as soon as you want to go off-road or the road conditions deteriorate, you can effortlessly switch into 4WD.

Stress-free parking and pulling out

Active Park Assist can steer you into parking spaces. Simply push a button and the sensors of this innovative system locate a suitable space as you drive past. Then it automatically steers you in, while all you do is operate the accelerator, gears and brake (following on-screen instructions and audible signals).

Ultra-bright, low-energy, Xenon headlights

Xenon headlights with non-adaptive lighting change the headlamp beam pattern automatically to apply the best light distribution for the conditions. This ensures the most effective illumination pattern is produced automatically for any given situation, from motorways to country lanes. There’s also an auto dip function, which automatically dips the high-beams when an oncoming vehicle is detected.

Cruise control that can adapt automatically

With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.

Helping to keep you inside the speed limit

Intelligent Speed Assist is designed to aid your speed control, enabling you to concentrate on the road. First, a front-facing camera automatically detects the current speed limit. An advanced system to help you stay in your lane

The Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Aid provides gentle steering torque assistance to help guide you back into your lane. If your wheel touches the line or edge of the road, Lane Keeping Alert vibrates the steering wheel and displays a visual warning. The technology automatically deactivates at speeds below 43 mph (64 kph), or can be turned off manually.

Extra control during hill starts

Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2-3 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.

Sensors that take the stress out of parking

Parking distance sensors at the front and rear help you judge the distance between your vehicle and obstacles around you. When the sensors detect an object, they activate an audible warning that intensifies the closer you get to it.

An early warning if a tyre is going flat

If any of your tyres starts to lose pressure during your journey, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System warns you immediately if there’s a puncture by lighting up an icon on the instrument panel.

Easier reversing

Bollards, bicycles, low walls… The rear-view camera shows what’s behind you on a screen built into the centre console. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines to help you park into the smallest of spaces. The camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.

It has been specially engineered to improve driving dynamics and reduce fuel consumption, too, helping to make your drive more exhilarating whilst reducing how often you need to refuel.

Use less fuel with Auto Start-Stop

When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine. When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or release the brake on an automatic, and the system restarts. Available in vehicles with an automatic transmission, Auto Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10%.

A system that can help protect pedestrians

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses RADAR and camera technology to scan the road ahead. If a collision risk with a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist is detected, it’ll then provide you with a warning. If you don’t respond in time, the system can automatically apply up to full braking force to help reduce the severity of, or even eliminate, some frontal collisions.

Helping you brake at higher speeds

The Active Braking system is an innovative safety feature that works when you’re traveling at speeds of over 30mph. The technology scans the road ahead and if it detects a collision is likely, will warn you. If you don’t react, the system primes the brakes then starts braking to help slow you down.

Ford Ranger towing speedboatKeeping your trailer safely in line

Trailer Sway Control detects ‘snaking’ or trailer sway and reduces your vehicle’s speed to help solve the problem, making towing more controlled. The system slows the vehicle down by reducing the engine’s torque and gradually increasing the brake pressure on all wheels.

Control features that adapt to your load

Load Adaptive Control adjusts the Electronic Stability Control according to the overall weight your Transit is carrying. This ensures control and stability whether empty or fully loaded.

Continuous protection against rolling over

Ford’s unique roll-rate sensor helps the Roll Stability Control system to keep the tyres grounded, specifically under conditions where there’s a high centre of gravity and when driving through off-camber turns.

Protecting and securing your Ranger from thieves

A Thatcham Category 1 alarm is a sophisticated system that automatically arms itself when you double-lock the vehicle and will sound a powerful alarm if triggered by forced entry, the vehicle being lifted, or if the motion sensors pick up any movement inside. The technology is also designed to help prevent unwanted towing of the vehicle. It's possible to arm the system in different ways, which means you can choose to monitor the doors, bonnet and boot.

Stands tall

It also offers a number of features to help keep your load safe, all of which are DIN compliant: sturdy tie-down hooks, an integrated load rest and, on some models, exterior rope rails. For added security and peace of mind, the tailgate can be locked and unlocked manually.

Electrical power where you need it

Clever additional touches also provide useful support to your business, such as an optional 240-volt power socket in the cab, invaluable when you need to charge your phone, tablet or rechargeable work tool on the road.

A true pick-up

Your workmates, the family, your friends… Ranger provides room for them with a choice of two distinct cab styles and four series. As spacious as before, but better equipped than ever, you and your passengers will travel in both comfort and style.
