Tom and Mark Tuohy, an Irish father and son team from Tipperary, claimed eighth place at this year’s final of the world’s largest amateur golf series, the Audi quattro Cup. The pair represented Ireland at the tournament held at Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith Golf Club in Austria. Tom & Mark Tuohy, from Dundrum Golf Club, scored an impressive 65 points over the 18-hole course, placing eighth on the Group A leader board. In total 48 teams from around the world took part in this years Audi quattro cup World Final, each team playing two rounds of the world class course. The Tuohy team teed off on their Audi quattro cup journey at the Audi Limerick regional quattro Cup qualifier event against 41 other teams. Their score of 42 points saw them advance to the National final, held in the prestigious Mount Juliet Estate, Co. Kilkenny on 29th August. After an extremely competitive day on the greens, the pair completed the 18-hole course with an impressive 44 points earning the golfing trip of a lifetime to compete at the Audi quattro Cup World Finals.


This year, approximately 80,000 golf enthusiasts competed as pairs in 645 qualification tournaments around the world. Each country held its own national final to determine who would receive a coveted place to tee off at the World Final in Kitzbühel. The tournament also hosted a programme of top entertainment for participants and guests. Among the highlights was a golf clinic and demo by world trick shot champion Geoff Swain and his partner Kevin Carpenter. PGA professional golfers Piers Ward and Andy Proudman were also on hand to provide tips to golfing fans on choosing the right irons and woods. The pair, whose “Meandmygolf” YouTube channel has amassed over half a million subscribers, were attending the tournament at the invitation of Audi quattro Cup sporting goods partner, Taylor Made.

The Audi quattro Cup has been an annual event since 1991 and has grown into the largest amateur tournament series in golf. Over 1.5 million amateur golfers have taken part in the tournament over two decades.
