With ambitious plans for further growth, we are now looking to recruit a dynamic and target driven individual, to join our management team.

Due to internal promotion, we are now looking to recruit an experienced motor trade professional for the Head of Sales.

Objectives

Successfully manage all aspects of the sales department operations of the dealership to achieve agreed customer satisfaction, loyalty and profitability targets. A hands-on approach is very much our culture in business and you will be expected to lead by example. Primary responsibilities

Customer

  • Manage all aspects of the Sales Department’s performance to maximise customer service and ensure that the Joe Duffy & BMW brand values are articulated in all aspects of a customer’s experience
  • Manage the development and implementation of a customer service strategy for the Sales Department
  • Working with the Marketing Department, manage marketing and promotion campaigns for the Sales Department, in consultation with the Group Marketing Manager and BMW Group Ireland
    Manage
  • Resolve and document all customer complaints relating to the Sales Department, in consultation with other department managers and staff as appropriate
  • Establish a range of services that is unique to the dealership and aimed at the target market, taking into account the competitive environment and BMW Group Ireland’s requirements
  • Manage the layout, cleanliness and presentation of the new and used car display area and ensure that it meets BMW Group’s requirements at all times and offers a pleasant environment for customers.


Financial

  • Develop a business plan for the Sales Department in consultation with the Head of Business outlining objectives and targets, for approval by BMW Group Ireland
  • You will be committed to maintaining a culture of customer service excellence and delight.
  • Manage all activity levels within the Sales Department and ensure the effective utilisation of all resources
  • Implement and manage the commission system in the Sales department to support the achievement of efficiency and profitability targets
  • Manage the invoicing process within the Sales Department and ensure that pricing guidelines are clearly understood and implemented by staff
  • Develop financial and non-financial targets for the Sales Department, in consultation with the Head of Business.
  • Continuously monitor the performance of the Sales Department against these volume, mix, revenue and profitability targets

Internal processes

  • Develop and implement documented processes covering all activities in the Sales Department in consultation with the Service Manager, Parts Manager and the Head of Business.
  • Work closely with the Used Car Sales Controller to develop and implement a part exchange appraisal process, trade in process and an agreed wash out process
  • Work with the Service Manager to develop an agreed reconditioning process to include agreed timescales and costings
  • Ensure that BMW Group’s Approved Used Car Programme guidelines and corporate identity requirements are complied with by the Sales Department on an ongoing basis
  • Work with the Head of Business, Parts and Service Managers to ensure co-ordination and co-operation between the different departments so as to achieve dealership objectives and maximise customer service
  • Provide all required statistics to BMW Group Ireland as requested

Team

  • Maintain standards of performance of the Sales team through effective coaching, training and performance management. You will develop an environment of exceptional performance through regular communication, team building and effective coaching. Employee reviews should be core to your people strategy: from monitoring, measuring and directing current performances; to developing future aspirations.
  • Develop and implement a management process for the Sales Department outlining all roles, responsibilities, authority levels and sign off procedures
  • Motivate, coach and mentor sales personnel on an ongoing basis
  • Carry out and document regular internal discussions with employees
  • Develop an annual training plan and submit to the Head of Business for approval
  • Promote the training of the sales team including scheduling dates and measures.

Reporting line

The Head of Sales reports to the Head of Business of the dealership

Reporting relationships

The Head of Sales is responsible for the management of all staff in the Sales Department. His / her direct reports are all Sales Executives and administrators.

Relationship with BMW Group Ireland

Manage all aspects of the dealership’s relationship with BMW Group Ireland in relation to Sales activities
