The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer is proof that compact dimensions, functionality and variability can be combined perfectly with a dynamic design. Be it sporting activities, driving holidays or for day-to-day use, this vehicle is always raring to go – with all the dynamics you expect of a BMW.
From every angle, it's obvious that the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer has been created with a different design philosophy to its competitors. From the trademark twin kidney grille at the front, to the large L-shaped light bars that give the car a wide, sporty stance at the back, it brings an unparalleled level of dynamism to the sector.
The raised roofline (5cm higher than the 2 Series Active Tourer), large doors and tailgate give easy access to all seven seats and the boot. However, the perceived height of the car is cleverly reduced due to an inclined windscreen and high bonnet. It is also longer, (providing more interior space), but short front and rear overhangs ensure it retains a sporty, agile look.
At the front, beautifully contoured lines emphasise the car's broad look, and in profile, the smooth, aerodynamic silhouette further emphasises the decisive design of a car that beautifully combines functionality with style.
The LED headlights with cornering lights optimally illuminate the road, making night driving more relaxed and safer. The headlights feature bright and efficient bi-LED light for low-beam and high-beam headlights.
Along with the tail lights, the cornering lights also feature LED technology. By switching on the low-brightness cornering lights, better side illumination is achieved in urban areas, so the driver can recognise pedestrians and bicyclists sooner, for example. At speeds between 40 and 70 km/h, the cornering lights also function as static curve illumination.
The double corona rings and LED daytime driving and parking lights in the main headlights' light tubes create a striking and unmistakable appearance.
Inside the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, the large windscreen, optional panoramic roof and intelligently redesigned pillars all flood the interior with natural light and provide superior all-round vision.
The third row of seats provides space for seven people and the capacity for three child seats in the second row. To give greaterflexibility, the third and seconds rows can be folded down (the second row automatically) to provide space for large luggage and other bulky items.
The interior is packed with features to make every journey a pleasure, such as dual-zone climate control, automatic tailgate operation (via a foot sensor under the rear bumper), rear Park Distance Control (PDC) and DAB radio as standard.
Of course, storage is key in a car designed for everyday adventures; every row of seats has useful compartments beneath it, bothcentre armrests can house numerous items, each door has ample integrated pocket space and almost every surface is designed to ensure that everything you need is always accessible.
