Since Joe Duffy Motors was Formed in 1970 and awarded the first solo BMW Dealership in Ireland, by Joe Duffy and Bill Thompson, the business has proceeded to grow from strength to strength. As part of that ongoing process of development the business was restructured in 2005 by the Shareholders with the Appointment of a new CEO tasked with further developing the business and building on the foundations that had been put in place
Unlike most Traditional car retailers in the Irish Market we are not a family business. We are a corporate operation with an experienced management team of both the Irish and the UK Market
As part of our growth strategy we formed JDM Automotive in 2006 as our Holding company and the objective was simple to grow our business and role out our successful business model.
The company has grown its market position with all the brands we represent and are the leading independent retailer in the Market
The company are strategically positioning themselves to benefit from the consolidation within the industry and are now looking to build market share and grow our business
Heres a short recap of how we became Ireland's leading motor group
2004 - A new flagship (40,000 sq ft) facility is built for the BMW and MINI Brand at Exit 5, M50 amongst the biggest dealerships for the Brand in Europe.
2005 - The business was financially restructured including the appointment of Mr. Gavin Hydes as CEO of Joe Duffy Motors Ltd.
2006 - JDM Automotive Limited was formed as a holding company to facilitate our future Group growth strategy as Ireland’s leading motor retail Group.
2007 - The North Road Premises were acquired and JDM Automotive Ltd. (JDM Specialist Cars Ltd.) were appointed Manufacturer Franchise Partners for Mazda and Opel for North Dublin (T/A Joe Duffy Opel/Mazda North Road Ltd)
2009 - We opened our second retail operation for both Mazda and Opel in 2009 – at our Dun Laoghaire Dealership - providing us with retail presence in Dublin South. We also opened our BMW/MINI authorised repair workshop at the end of this year.
2009 - We carried out a refurbishment of our flagship BMW facility including our state of the art MINI Mansion
2010 - JDM Automotive (Mainway North Road Ltd.) were appointed Partner for Audi Ireland in 2009 and Audi North Dublin commenced trading in January 2010 for Sales and Aftersales.
2010 - JDM Automotive (Joe Duffy Dun Laoghaire Ltd.) was awarded the position of Partner for Porsche GB in Ireland and the Porsche Centre Dublin opened in Rochestown Avenue in November 2010.
